Playing with Perspective Around Town

One of my challenges is finding new photography subjects–or at least new ways of looking at them.  I tend to fall in love with particular subjects (Old West at Dickinson, flowers, my little fuzzball Raven) and gravitate towards them.  But I also know that I have to try new things and different viewpoints to continue to learn–and just to have more interesting photo albums, as well!  So here is a collection of slightly new perspectives on some old Oakland favorites of mine.

A New Blog for a New Year

Since, as the header says, I do occasionally think about things other than food, I decided I needed a new little corner of the web to represent my non-foodie thoughts.  I didn’t want to get FoodieSuzy too convoluted with other things, so this is going to be a chance for me to post other thoughts and things going on in our lives out here in the ‘Burgh.  And, for the moment, one of this site’s primary purposes will be for me to catalog my progress with one of my New Year’s resolutions: my 52 photo challenge.

I love my new camera, and I’m looking for ways to keep my camera skills in focus (ha!) now that my class is done.  And, realistically, I know there is no way that I’d be able to complete a 365 photo challenge–that’s just setting myself up for failure.  So, instead, I am challenging myself to post one picture each week that I’ve taken–52 photos with something interesting about them.  I’m going to be looking for interesting subjects and new ways to see old subjects.  And some of them might just be playing with new techniques or methods.  But at the end of the year, I will have 52 pictures that I’m proud of.

Thanks for coming along for the ride!
